The KSPS Dance Academy was founded in 2018 by Mrs Righton, Miss Shipway and Mrs Munroe. The Academy promotes the development of body awareness with technical and expressive skills to communicate confidently and creatively through movement. Learning through dance involves students exploring elements, skills and processes through the practices of choreography, performance and appreciation.
Students are exposed to different styles of dance over the course of the year; some of the styles worked on are: lyrical, modern expressive, salsa, hip-hop, jazz and song & dance. Our dance coaches can change each year, this year we are fortunate enough to have Miss Britt join Miss Shipway and Mrs Righton.
We have a dance uniform that we wear when representing our school that was designed by our dance founders and a logo specifically designed by one of the parents in our community: Mr Clive Ah Wong.
Our Dance Academy has a current membership of over 60 students from years 3-6, both boys and girls.
Over the year students have the opportunity to perform in a variety of school and community events:
Term 1 – Harmony Day
Term 2 – Katherine BEAT
Term 3 – School Fete or KSPS Showcase
Term 4 – End of year Awards presentation.
